As a Legal Counsel at Lightspeed, you will be responsible for overseeing the contract administration staff and contract review, negotiating and drafting any manner of agreements, including procurement and service contracts and leases. As a Legal Counsel, you will work closely with lawyers and contracts personnel to review and draft legal agreements and addendums.

What are you going to do?
  • Communicating with the general counsel and senior management as necessary to ensure the company is informed on regulatory issues and updates;
  • Identifying potential issues and deficiencies, collecting relevant data to establish facts, and drawing valid conclusions to improve compliance procedures;
  • Reviewing contracts for ambiguities and contemplating potential outcomes and creative solutions;
  • Providing technical guidance to lawyers and paralegals involved in negotiations;
  • Consulting with management, commercial advisors, tax experts, accountants and marketing staff;
  • Coordinating and managing outside counsel and litigation;
  • Negotiating and drafting contractual agreements, such as real estate leases, and advising on employment matters;
  • Overseeing compliance and corporate governance issues;
  • Keeping informed of industry-specific regulations and ensuring that appropriate risk management strategies are in place;
  • Drafting internal policies and ensuring organizational compliance with the same;
  • Providing training to the company and its European affiliates on substantive legal topics.
What do we think is important to succeed?
  • Excellent English and Dutch language skills;
  • Master’s degree in Dutch Law;
  • Minimum 4 years in a relevant law firm and in-house experience, preferably in a tech company selling SaaS-based services;
  • Strong technical knowledge of all aspects of internal contract management software programs;
  • Understanding of the business and business needs;
  • Excellent communication manners;
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong presentation skills;
  • Open availability.
